“The nature of Nature is a circle.”
-Grandmother Medicine Song
The meaning of the title, “Grandmother”.
In the tradition of the People, I was given the name of Grandmother Medicine Song (So’o Ngahu Taawi ) at a council held in Zuni, Pueblo in the summer of 2017. I was given that name as well as permission to share my knowledge of the medicine teachings I hold in the oral tradition to a global community online. I take very seriously the title of “grandmother”. So’o (grandmother) is both a term of endearment as well as a sign of respect bestowed upon a woman.
Why Hopi Wisdom Teachings?
Beginning in 2019 and at the age of 75, I decided NOW was the time to make the necessary bridge to a larger global community by co-creating with the help of a few of my students the website, Hopi Wisdom Teachings. Through this website, my wish is to preserve for current and future generations an oral archive of the teachings and the method of understanding the “Wisdom” I have developed and taught over twenty-six years.
From this endeavor, I hope people of Non-Native American ancestry may find a deeper understanding of what this profound Wisdom IS and how it can aid in the healing and “wholing” of their personal lives as well as all life on Mother Earth. Through this process, I hope to transform your “Anglo” mind so you may find and begin to listen to your authentic voice (i.e. your original medicine).
As our perspective changes and we regain our “original” medicine we will be able to walk together in balance and harmony so that all life may coexist and flourish on Mother Earth. And so, I invite you to join with me as we “Walk The Beauty Way”.
